History - the privilege

cool hit counter

Just came back to Singapore from KL. Bought a few books and saw a few exhibitions, talked to a few friends. (on Tuesday)

Wed: back to office - finished editing the Singapore Biennale roundtable discussion, also known as the Encounters 13: Looking Ahead.

Jennifer pointed out, that the session was a typical discussion in Singapore where people talked but were not really talking to each other. It always seems that we start from ground zero with so many discussions. I will attribute this to the idea that nothing is really documented. Nothing is being published - so it is alright for people not to have any knowledge of what has happened before.

Therefore, it is perfectly normal for people to assume that what they are saying and asking is something completely new.

I suppose we are trying to solve all this with what our(p-10) resources allow us to change the situation. We are trying to publish the documentation and allow future generations to build on the discourses which we have created. Simple - basic - knowledge work for now.

Frustrating, just watching this encounter 13: looking ahead -- there is just no follow up from this session - in concept, content.. what have you! What the?

Transmission out. Woon Tien Wei.
