Chanced upon an interview with this design duo or company - creative. on Creative review.
They don't meet or stay in the same city/country. They meet about 3 or 4 times a year and never meet their clients.
Yet, they make quite good creative work and are quite sought after at this stage.
It seems that this is possible with communication technology and the nature of their work. For me, working with some groups are often difficult, like with charles, who insist on meeting in order to articulate ideas, it can get disruptive for work. I believe in meeting face to face, that is an important part of working. However, not just to articulate ideas and formulate them. It is equally important to work on them as well and develop framework to work efficiently.
These days, meetings to brainstorm ideas should be possible through 'remote' participation like via the web from e-mails, chat, social web 2.0 stuff... - in some ways, I am trying to develop that with Server Foundation at this moment, collaboration often happens through online experience, through chat, swopping files, irc, skype and whatever we can get our hands on to try.
