The Singapore Freedom Film Fest (FFF) is organised by Function 8.

This year, Function 8 offered a grant of $5,000 to a Singapore film-maker. This grant was awarded to Jason Soo which produced his documentary. 1987: Untracing the Conspiracy.

This documentary tells the story of the 1987 former political detainees of the Operation Spectrum. I am glad that Soo won the award at the premier at Freedom Film Fest in Petaling Jaya (KL) and won Best South East Asia Feature Film award.

I wonder if the film will get rated in Singapore and eventually have an official release in Singapore.

Well before I end, it is important to highlight that I feel that there is a substantial increase of interests on 'alternative' history or stories about Singapore. However, audienceship have not become considered mainstream yet.

There is still some way to go but 'censored' work do give the works a kind of 'aura'. If time permits, I will try to blog some thoughts on that.

Meanwhile, here is the trailer.
