#Repost @veron.yka • • • • • • Far East Plaza [Part 1] Lash Spa Lessons was an hour-long performance as a part of the Steeped Strong show at Far East Plaza. FEP is no longer a bustling mall but is still very much a temple to feminine beauty and its comings and goings. I picked The Lash Spa on the 3rd floor because it is unapologetically, gloriously, PINK. The performance was deliberately long form so I could give myself the time I felt I needed to thoroughly construct a space or event for my audience/participant/collaborators to immerse, inhabit and connect with its ideas and each other. I was interested in performance as a kind of empathetic energy transference, a space to fully take in and experience another human body, in spite of the utterly plastic setting of a mall, a business as usual nail salon, the artifice of a performance and the ridiculous make-up. It was also year-end and festive so I had really wanted to give some really great people a treat.
